FAQ

Who is King’s Ransom?

Founded in 2009, King’s Ransom Foundation is a USA non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to upholding the cause of the widow, the orphan, the poor and the needy. We seek to reflect the Character of God through direct humanitarian activities.

What portion of my giving goes to support King’s Ransom’s operational budget, and what portion goes to the actual ministry work?

King’s Ransom’s operational expenses are completely covered by a private corporate donor, which allows us to allocate 100 percent of your giving to the causes that matter most to you, and hold nothing back for operations.

How is the General Fund used?

The General Fund is distributed among the ministries we support and is never used for administrative costs.

Why do we help the poor in other countries?

While we do help widows, orphans, soup kitchens, churches, and other charitable organizations here in the United States, we have found that the poor in the United States have safety nets that the poor in other countries do not have. Third-world poverty comes with a different level of hopelessness than we see here.

How can donors be assured their money is used wisely?

We are frugal, efficient, carefully monitored, and aligned with partners to get the most out of each donation.

How does King’s Ransom determine what organizations to support?

King’s Ransom has a stringent process for vetting partner organizations, where we look at the fruit of their work, financial stewardship, their leadership, and other factors.

I have an idea for a mission that I think King’s Ransom should support. How do I go about letting you know?

Use the “Contact Us” form to give us your information and we will take a look at it.  If it fits our criteria your request will be submitted to our Board of Directors for review. We do not promise to help everyone who makes a request.

Are my online credit/debit card donations secure?

Yes. Our online giving system is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption by Blackbaud Software, a leader in online contribution technology. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of King’s Ransom Foundation. Why do we use such graphic stories and photos?

These graphic images and stories are a reality for the people we serve, and are used to educate our donors on the grim truth.

What is a birthday campaign?

Some of our donors have decided that, rather than receive presents for their birthdays, they would rather have their friends and family make a donation in their name to a project King’s Ransom is doing. Go to “How To Help,” and under “Start A Campaign,” click the “Get Started” button.

I want to set up an online fundraiser for the 1,000 Home for Nicaragua project, so I can get my friends, family, and coworkers involved. What’s the best way to do that?

The first thing you will want to do is go to kingsransom.org, and then choose “How to Help.” Under “Sponsor A Project” click the “Get Started” button. It will take you to a new campaign page associated with that project, hosted by grouprev.com. On the right-hand side of the page is an orange button that says, “Create your own page.” Click that and follow the prompts to get started. Then get the word out on Facebook, Twitter, or your favorite social media platforms. Grouprev will do the rest.

My favorite restaurant has a policy where they will donate a portion of their sales for a set period of time to a charity of my choice. What can I do to set up an event for King’s Ransom?

Each restaurant chain has their own policies for setting up donation nights. Check with them first to get an event approved. If they ask for a contact, give them “[email protected].”  We’re working on a media kit that will include posters, flyers, mailings, and other marketing tools you can use.

I want to host a fundraising event in my community. What should I do?
