Imagine being a mom or dad in a poor country with hardly any food. Your kids are starving. You look at them and see their body is weak and aching. These precious children, your flesh and blood, appear to be merely skin and bones to you. You’re almost out of food and you have no idea when you will have the money to buy food, nor do you know when more food will arrive in your area. All the markets are empty. Your neighbors have settled into eating whatever they can get their hands on. You know that if your kids don’t eat, it won’t be long before they will perish. You sacrifice your meal to them, not knowing when you would eat again.
For many of the world’s poorest, this is reality. For them, food is already terribly hard to come by. However, now with a hefty spike in the price of food, a scarcity of resources globally, and a lack of work, more and more people are finding food insecurity to be a livelihood. This means they either lack the means and resources to buy food or the local area provides poor access to food. For most people who are suffering from severe hunger, both are true. The area is prone to famine or the government lockdowns have created a massive food shortage and the money they make is not enough to purchase enough food when it does come.

The difference between life and death shouldn’t be one meal. We at King’s Ransom have made it our mission to ensure that no one dies from starvation. We have fought against famine in Africa. We have provided food to orphanages in dozens of countries to feed the children they care for, providing for such a basic but important necessity. We have brought food to shelters for women in the US and abroad who were trafficked, allowing these shelters and organizations to focus on integrating these women into sustainable environments. We have helped buy groceries and food for single moms and widows here in the US and in Israel. That is the work we do in the US and around the world to help people eat and live.
Yet, we see that the need only grows. Costs are going up due to the dollar deflating in value and of course the lack of supply for most people around the world. Now, the poor need us now more than ever. Millions will die if we don’t choose to stand in the gap. So, what will you do to answer the cry of the poor? How will you help the orphan who is crying from an aching stomach, malnourished from having not eaten? What impact will you make on the widow who is unseen, begging on the street corner, hoping someone sees her and loves her? What effect will you have on the child rescued from trafficking, hungry, lonely, and traumatized from the things they’ve seen and the hurt they’ve experienced?

As a result of your giving, we have been able to give over 7 million meals within the last 2 years. Please help us do more this year. Give us the opportunity to serve more people and put food in more mouths. Your giving allows us to also create sustainability within communities, ending the potential for starvation in vulnerable communities. You transform generations when you give. Now, we need your help to change even more lives.
If you have given to any of our food projects in the past, we thank you. You have played a pivotal role in sustaining families and children; lives that would’ve been snuffed out if you hadn’t stepped in. Consider giving to this project and continuing that impact. We are grateful for your generosity and cannot wait to share the stories of people being saved from the brink of starvation because of your choice to give. Thank you for changing lives.
