For most, there is great respect for those who serve. For most who wear the uniform, however, there is an issue that often goes unnoticed. Hundreds upon thousands of service members struggle financially. They are given very little financial skills to manage their money well, which often leads to divorce, depression, spending money on alcohol, and many other issues. We see this as a big need and have decided to help. In partnership with Destiny Global, we will be serving our service members in a way that has the potential to change their lives...

With most things, there is a generalized perspective; a picture painted for us by stories told by history, moments that fill our minds, photos of real men and women in action, and other things that create an idea of what lives are like for certain people. For our military, we see these individuals as brave souls who have chosen to risk their lives for the security of our freedoms. But the full picture isn’t always seen. We think these are the most disciplined people you could imagine, but these are human beings with real struggles and genuine daily battles.
Most people in the military have not received the financial teaching they need to help them navigate the difficulties of managing their money. Most divorces that occur within the military involve issues surrounding money. It’s a staggering problem and it is completely avoidable if these men and women are given the tools and skills to handle their financial situations.
For most who choose to serve, they enter at a young age, with some being as young as 18-20 years old. A lot of these young men and women get their first paycheck and don’t know how to handle that new money. There’s even a long-standing joke that the first thing a new member does is go buy a brand new mustang with a 17% interest rate. They think they are rich and have no clue how to save or manage their finances.
In many cases, the spouses of military service members do not know how to manage finances either. It is not a rare occurrence that a service member will come home and find that they have a ton of credit card debt racked up. It’s a serious problem, but the solution is simple: we teach them how to manage their money. Things are getting more expensive and the need for better money management is imperative to the success of military couples and their family.
Destiny Global took notice of this problem through the many connections they have to service members who have seen this issue within the military community. They have decided to step in and help to alleviate this problem. Rather than standing by and watching more military families become broken, we alongside Destiny Global have decided to start a scholarship fund to send military service members to personal development training where they will learn communication, money management, and relationship skills that will help them thrive.
Our goal is to send at least 100 military members and their families to this series of training over the next year. Help us accomplish this goal. We want to change lives, and this includes those who ensure we have freedom. The habits active military members create now will have an effect on them years from now. Their children’s futures depend on the example they set and the ability of these parents to teach them the skills to manage their money.
Help us make an impact in the lives of those who have chosen to serve this country. These men and women help preserve the freedoms we have. Don’t forget the ones who serve us. Please, consider giving to this project today and provide a bright future for military members and their families. Money and food fade, but the skills to keep and earn it never go away. Skills can be taught to others, too. So, join us in our effort and give today!
