The Moz Mission is dedicated to changing the destiny of orphan and vulnerable children in Mozambique.
Millions of Mozambican children live in multi-dimensional poverty, lacking reliable access to food, safe housing, education, and basic medical care. Your generosity can help break this cycle, spark lasting change, and transform lives across our four key focus areas.
1) Education Support: From Pre-School to University
The Challenge: Nearly half of all children never finish primary school, and only about 6% of the national workforce ever reaches higher education or vocational training. A child in Mozambique completes an average of just 3.2 years of schooling, and rural secondary school attendance drops to a stark 23%. Academic research shows that children in father-absent homes face significantly higher rates of early child labor, as single caretakers are forced to rely on children just to help gather food or work for survival.
Our Solution: We identify specific, highly motivated students and walk alongside them through their entire educational journey. By covering school fees, uniforms, textbooks, food and essential learning supplies we ensure that financial barriers do not halt their potential.
Annual Goal ($5,000): Targeted funding to identified students will secure full academic scholarships and practical living support. Individual stories of these children are available.
2) Orphan Care Projects: Healing and Dignity
The Scale of the Orphan Crisis
Over 1.8 to 2 Million Orphans: Mozambique has one of the highest orphan populations in the world. Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO)
The Impact of Illness and Conflict: UNICEF Alternative Care Report: Approximately 800,000 Mozambican children have been orphaned directly due to the long-standing HIV/AIDS epidemic while ongoing conflicts and climate disasters have separated thousands more from their families.
Child-Headed Households: 24,000 homes in Mozambique are run entirely by children, where the oldest sibling (often a teenager) must drop out of school to feed and care for younger brothers and sisters.
UNICEF Mozambique reveals that out of 16.4 million children in the country, nearly 13 million (77%) live in multi-dimensional poverty. This means they are severely deprived of basic human rights, including clean water, healthcare, safe housing, and education.
The Challenge: Material poverty is only one layer of the challenges these children face; emotional trauma and neglected living conditions heavily impact their well-being. Severe resource shortages leave state facilities unable to provide the emotional support necessary to heal childhood trauma.
Our Solution: We execute vital, practical restructuring of the physical environment at the Xai Xai State Orphanage while consistently delivering emotional and psychological well-being programs according to individual needs with specific focus on the many physically challenged children.
Annual Goal ($5,000): This investment will directly fund the physical transformation of dilapidated living quarters—repairing, painting, and restructuring rooms, the bathrooms, library, outside kitchen, washing facilities and much more. More importantly is to provide sustaining professional emotional care initiatives to ensure these children live in safety and dignity, knowing they are valued and deeply loved.
3) Community Upliftment: Restoring Faith and Health
The Challenge: Over 70% of Mozambican children live below the monetary poverty line, surviving on less than $1 USD per day. Extreme weather and economic strain frequently devastate community anchor points. Malaria remains one of the leading causes of child mortality in Mozambique, making physical protection like mosquito nets a literal matter of life and death for these already vulnerable families.
Our Solution: We partner with local pastors in Xai Xai rural communities to physically rebuild damaged churches and training facilities. Simultaneously, we protect and nourish families by distributing Bibles and life-saving mosquito nets. The training facilities will act as vital community hubs where local adults and youth receive iteracy classes, vocational training, and life skills, creating long-term economic independence for the entire village.
Annual Goal ($5,000): Funding towards this section will drive structural restoration projects and the provision of local-language Bibles for pastors and frontline leaders, and vulnerable families with both the Word of God and life-saving mosquito nets.
4) The Immanuel Christmas Box Project
The Challenge: Living in multi-dimensional poverty means orphaned and vulnerable children rarely, if ever, experience the joy of receiving a personal gift. This severe deprivation compounds feelings of isolation, neglect, and being forgotten by the world.
Our Solution: Every December holiday season, we deliver personalized Immanuel Christmas Boxes filled with essential hygiene products, school supplies, toys, personal age-related gifts and treats.
Annual Goal ($5,000): This allocation fully funds the logistics, procurement, and distribution of Christmas boxes, bringing tangible joy, dignity, and a reminder that they are loved to hundreds of children across our target regions. More than just a box of items, it is a tangible expression of love, bringing smiles, dignity, and holiday cheer to children living in difficult circumstances.
For the year ahead, we envision and trust for a total goal of $20,000, divided equally across our four core pillars of transformation. By investing $5,000 into each focus area, we will provide the foundational stability needed to sustain, scale, and secure these vital programs year after year.
