Juan was four when his mother was killed by members of a local drug gang. He doesn’t know what happened to his older sisters that night. When a Good Samaritan found him and brought him to us, he was starving, sick, and bewildered. He is now thriving and learning to dream about the kind of leader he wants to be when he grows up.
Your giving ensures that these children face each new day with a meal, clean drinking water, and a safe place to sleep, far from the torment of life on the street.
You are not only rescuing the orphans of Mexico from starvation, you are enabling us to give them the life a child should have. They are learning the skills to be successful adults. Most children arrive in these orphanages not knowing how to read or write. Many have never been to school. They recently held a graduation celebration for the children who were moving up into a new phase of their schooling. It was a small thing, but it made a big impression on the children and you made that possible.
We haven’t heard much about Mexico in the shadow of COVID-19, but the threat is all the more real because most of the people – especially the poor and the orphans – don’t have access to clean water, medicine, and food. That’s why it is so critical that we act now on their behalf – to make sure they are provided for.
