You've heard of Thanksgiving.

You've heard of "Black Friday."

You may have even heard of "Cyber Monday."

But now there's this thing called "#GivingTuesday."

Over the last several years, people have started to realize that spending money they don't have to buy gifts for people who really don't need anything isn't as fulfilling as their TV tells them it should be. They want something more satisfying, more gratifying than spending crazy money for the sake of a tired old tradition.

Enter "#GivingTuesday."

Turn Meaningless Retail Into Something Good

Imagine a world where you send a gift of food, clothing, shelter, or freedom to someone who desperately needs it, and they cry happy tears of relief and gratitude to God because they finally have hope again.

How does that compare to the response from your aunt to the trinket you bought her last year? Or the tie you gave your dad?

Would you say it's more rewarding?

"#GivingTuesday" emerged because people want to put their money toward gifts that matter. They want to make a difference in the world with their money, and Christmas shopping just doesn't cut it anymore.

Kick The Habit And Find Life

I know families who are leaving Black Friday and Cyber Monday behind forever, and turning their generosity into kindness toward the poor instead of gifts no-one needs.

A few years ago, Drew and Erin Hudson and their five kids discovered that spending Christmas loving on orphans in Belize gave them the best Christmas they had ever had. There's no toy, tool, or trinket that can replace the memories that family discovered. Their holidays - no, their lives - will never be the same.

Maybe overseas mission trips don't appeal to you. That's fine. But I would be willing to bet that you are like millions of people who are finding out that they are totally bored by meaningless Christmas shopping.

Here are a couple of simple ways you can make your holiday gift-giving more meaningful.

Give an orphan a month's worth of meals...for just 7 dollars.

Three meals a day for 30 days, and it costs you less than a typical fast food meal. No-brainer. Start here.

Provide clean drinking water to a village in the third world that has been dying of water-borne illnesses.

Is this really still a thing in the 21st century? Sadly, yes. Two billion people don't have access to clean water, and they watch their parents, siblings, and children die of diseases that should have been eradicated fifty years ago. Enough already. Send a gift of clean water and hope here.

Rescue A Child From Sex Trafficking

As the world spins into madness and depravity, more and more adults are paying for sex with children. The dark gets darker every year. We are working with organizations around the world that extract children from sex trafficking and giving them a chance to start a new life. We figure it costs an average $5,000 to rescue and rehabilitate a child. If that sounds like more than you can do by yourself, that's fine. Set a goal and set up a campaign page like these to rally your friends together. If everyone you know gives a little, you can make a difference for as many children as you want.

Bless Israel

If you read your Bible, you know that Israel is a major part of God's plan for redeeming the world. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, Elijah, Isaiah, Jesus -- all Jews who lived in Israel. Part of our mandate as believers is to bless Israel, and King's Ransom has an office there. We work every day to provide food, shelter, and hope to our Jewish brothers and sisters in Israel. If you have questions about how that works today, watch this eye-opening video.

This is just a couple of ideas. Visit to see dozens of other opportunities to change the world.

The $5 Million Finish Line

2018 was our biggest year EVER because of people who wanted their money to do something important for someone who could never do anything to repay them. They found life and satisfaction in process.

Our last best year was $3.7 million, and this year we are on our way to $5 million!! We have $545,000 left to get there.

We can totally do it. "#GivingTuesday" can be a launching pad for it. As we roll past New Year's Day, we expect to have a great report for you.

And this is just the beginning.

I fully believe that next year, more people are going to get tired of stupid holiday spending and look for a way to make their money count. You and I will bring them here. They will see that 100% of each gift goes directly to the people who need it most. They'll get excited and we will have our next BEST year!

Thank you so much for being a part of the answer to a hurting world. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
